Extending the BOB Service to you and your family
A BOB Hub is an extension of North Warwickshire Borough Council's Branching Out Bus branding. It will consist of an IT suite which people will be able to drop in and use throughout the day.
In some strategic locations the community will also be able to talk to people at the contact centre and other council staff looking at them on a computer screen. This access will be by video conference technology enabling virtual "face to face" interviews.
In an effort to simplify the benefit system and improve work incentives, Universal Credit is set to replace the present benefit structure in 2013. The impact of this is that everyone will have to apply for benefits on-line, i.e. on the Internet using a computer.
With this Knowledge North Warwickshire Borough Council has been working with local communities to set up places (BOB Hubs) where people can contact the council and other agencies for assistance with benefits. To aid community inclusion these computers can also be used for homework clubs, Wii Fit, social networking, family history, home shopping etc. It will be up to each community to decide what services and clubs they would like to have. The Hubs will be manned by volunteers.
